The German biathletes are
back from Muonio (Finnland, 200 km north of the polar circle) and at
home until they leave for Beitostoelen on Monday. Sven
reported, that they, despite of the cold, had very good training
conditions. One of the test competitions had to be cancelled due to the
cold - not surprising when you know that temperatures fell to -31°C.
But of course it wasn't that cold every day, so training and testing of
ski material had not been seriously disturbed. The conditions were
definitely better than the ones in Beitostoelen, were some nations and
the German women had their final season's preparation. The covering of
snow was rather thin, so the athletes couldn't risk to use their best
material. Of course you can't test ski material under conditions like
that. Now the start of
the biathlon season is just around the corner. The atmosphere in the
men's team is good, Sven has been healthy during the season's
preparation and he's as motivated as he has always been. So the
pre-conditions for the season are good - let's see what the next months
will bring. Here are
some photographic impressions, Sven captured in Muonio - I think you can
actually see how cold it was.
